About Pam & the Math is FigureOutAble Mission
Pam Harris founded Math Is FigureOutAble because she saw too many students believe math was something you either “got” or didn’t. She also saw teachers doing their best with tools that usually didn’t support deep understanding.
A compelling voice in math education, Pam has spent decades working alongside teachers, coaches, school leaders, and districts to shift instruction toward reasoning, sense-making, and confidence.
This work is grounded in a simple belief: every student can learn math in ways that make sense to them.

Kimberly Holman
Instructor, College of Saint Benedict
I want to share how much this has impacted my teaching and my elementary math pedagogy students! I had math pedagogy students who began in my course scared to teach math because of past experiences they had in school. After being exposed to problem strings, the DMR model from Pam, and all the models and strategies from the workshops, those same students felt so much confidence about their future teaching. We also use the DMR text for class. The feedback from my students has been overwhelmingly positive. The content in the workshops and supporting resources has been invaluable to me and the students I get to teach. The 34 future teachers from last semester will be going out into the world as Pam Harris math is figureoutable influencers! I cannot thank the both of you enough. We are erasing math phobia one pre-service teacher at a time!

I absolutely love the Math is Figure-out-able movement. I attend every webinar, workshop, and challenge that I can because I always learn something new and continue to expand my understanding of math and how to teach my students to be math-ers! It's all time well spent.

If any of you are on the fence about registering for a workshop, I can tell you that they are so worth it! I am a Journey member and convinced my principal to register our other three grade 3 teacher for the Subtraction workshop this fall. We have learned so much and our students are too! We were able to watch the workshops at our own pace and watch and learn together as a group.
This past Friday, we presented/shared/modelled some of what we have learned (I Have, You Need, a simple problem string, and a sample rich task) to our whole school and another school. Now our other colleagues are wanting to take one of the workshops! The workshops are worth every dollar!
